Slippery Rock Men's and Women's cross country
On Saturday the 21st, both Men's and Women's XC traveled to Bloomsburg Pa to participate in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship. The Women's side won their first title since 1995 with a strongly dominant victory. The girls were able to put all five of their scorers in the top 19 positions which put them in an opportunity to easily run away with the title. Some notable scorers include Anna Igims, Ruthie Hughes, Chelsea Hunt, Katie Plassio, and Maddie Grillo. The Men's side took second in the PSAC meet, while five of the runners earned All-PSAC. The boys fell just short of first place by only having three runners placed in the top seven while Shippensburg was able to finish with four in the top seven. Some notable finishers include Ethan Brentham, Joseph Cintavey, Devon Navaroli, Michael Novak, and lastly our SWEC member Troy Hart. All five Slippery Rock scorers pushed their mental and physical capacity to the highest level. Congratulations to both the Men and Women's SRU XC for such an amazing achievement.
Thanks for the write up Luke! This was the first time in 15 years, 2008, since the men have brought home a trophy from the PSAC meet. The course was a mental and physical challenge. The day before, it rained and cause the course to be muddy and have no good footing. The winning time was a minute slower than his season best and I was 2 minutes slower than my personal best time this year. And a fun fact, Ethan Brentham was named the Scholar Athlete. He is a SWEC graduate and is currently taking a grad position with Slippery Rock's housing
